Your FIRST NASCAR EVENT and it is the Daytona 500... or is this the first time at Daytona?
I am envious ...either way!
My Advise? Expect large crowds so be prepared for that...choose a team to learn about, follow and root for (I am a 24 or 48 fan ...now watch the boos start! )...it will be that much more exciting for you...and have more liquids than you think you need...you will make all sorts of new friends ...and you will need the extra beverages!

Have a great time & make sure you post a few photos here when you get back!!

I am sure things have changed alot since we did Speed Weeks at Daytona. Last one was 2004 but had reserved infield spot on turn two for many years. Are you able to park infield? If so you will want to take a small wagon for picking up suvoniers, or if you need more suppies. Always keep you pass with you, (get a ticket holder) be prepared for large crowds on Sat & Sun. THere are many more things but first let us know if you are infield or out and where you will be parking, how many days you will be there, are you taking a towed if you have a motorhome, is you rig a towable, do you have a buget?

Rick plenty of $$ is the order of the day. Expect very large crowds, lots of noise (love those screaming cars coming around the track the first full lap). Try to get you a set of headphone type am/fm radios so you can hear what is going on. With the large crowds yelling all the time it is really hard to hear out of the PA system. Lots of walking and walking will be a main part of your day from parking to walking the pits to finally getting to your seats.
Have a good time. We are still waiting to see if our complimentary infield camping passes are going to come through for the week. If so I will call you and we can meet up the day of the 500.

Be sure and walk all the way out to the street where all the drivers put their hand prints.... lots of history out there...

My son is a junior there at the local University.... with everything racing and biking in Daytona there is to see, I wonder how often he attends the University too!
