FMCA rally in Gillette
My husband wants to attend the rally in Gillette this summer. It will be our first FMCA event and my only objection is the RV camping area. The puctures I have seen look like all of the coaches are crammed in like sardines with just enough space to open the awning. It looks like you could hear your neighbor breathing. Is this the case? We would be using the full hookup area.
Thank you.

You are correct. The RVs are crowded together. Understand that people are not going for the camping. They are going for the displays, exhibits, lectures, nightly entertainment, etc. If that bothers you make reservations in a nearby campground and purchase day passes to the event.

We were there for the FMCA 50th anniversary. I didn't think the spaces were like sardine packing. True you don't have 150ft between coaches but you won't hear your neighbor snoring. You can get all your slides out, no problem. Our awning was able to extend fully (we have a Girard). We will be there again this year in the full hook up area with friends.
Remember, you are there for a good time, not a long time.
On edit, remember to pull in your awnings when you leave the coach. A storm can come up really quick without warning. There will be text messaging to warn of impending storms

i remember a few years back we were going through gillette when the rally started and heading back out a day after it ended...i saw lots of rvs stuck in the grass from the horrible rains we had that week .
really bad luck for the event, we even had ice on the side of the road

FMCA packs Rigs in and tells you to park your vehicle under your awning. Can’t get storage drawers open. They have plenty of wasted space

I don't know if you were there or where you were parked if you were, but I happen to know there was plenty of room in Gillette to put your awnings out fully and park your toad in front of your coach.

We've been to 3 FMCA reunion rallies & that's exactly how we were parked. They also park you in the order in which you get there which can be an exercise in creative leveling when your DP's rear end is on the downward side of the sloped spot the put you in.
It took 4 of us donating boards to get the below coach somewhat level.

Parking rigs on top of each other is a disservice to members. There are acres of unused grass. I complained to FMCA that for over $120 per day members should get more space. At Perry you’re packed in like sardines.
I posted the issue on FMCA’s message board and got this in return to my feedback

Folks, it's not our business what goes on at other forums. Please don't post about it here.
