I hope I'm not in the wrong forum, but there is going to be a "STAR GAZE" at the Hurlburt Field Picnic area, open to the public, free of charge. This picnic area is right next (east) to the Hurlpurt camping area. Oh and it will be held on February 25th and will start at 17:00. This is being put on by the local astronomy club. If any of you are in the area, com on over. It will be a fun time. Jimm Zajicek

Thanks for the info; I love Fort Walton Beach. Unfortunately, I won't be there. :(

Well we went camping on the weekend the Star Gaze was to be held. True to its name, Our camper was at a local camp site, and the event had to be cancelled due to the inclimate weather. Next event will be re posted when more info is acquired.

Just a minor correction, Ft Pickens is a federal park. It is part of Gulf Islands National Seashore. If you have a Senior Pass (formerly Golden Age) there is no charge to enter. Camping does cost.

Thanks for the correction. Well, I took the rain maker to Fort Pickens, Friday evening. Guess What? You guessed it, IT RAINED OUT the star gaze for Friday evening. Saturday was clear. I had to leave Sat. AM due to previous engagements.
Fort Pickens will have a Star Gaze of their own, on April 20, So y'all have plenty of time to get in on the fun. Drive safe, and God Bless.

I will get with the group and let you know when they plan another star gaze. If I am not mistaking, I believe that Fort pickens has a program simular to that from the planetarium. You can call the Fort Pickens office for dates and times. As stated in the previous posts, If you are military, or old like me, you can get in free. 50% off for camping if you hold the golden age card. That by the way is a deal. it costs 10.00 and will pay for itself within 2 or 3 visits.
