It will be interesting to see how things turn out next season, starting with speedweeks at Daytona in February. For me, we are not going to Daytona for the first time in 10 years. Between the ticket costs, campground prices and all the necessities, the 500 is out. We're going to Florida, just not Daytona. Of course, we still trek to Bristol twice a year, but its close to home and a lot cheaper. I will miss Daytona.

We went to TMS in November (Good time-boring race). We have tickets for Las Vegas in February but that may be it for awhile. We are meeting friends from Canada in Vegas and the 4 tickets for the weekend totalled $920.00US. Pretty expensive weekend when everything else is added in.

We had four season seats at Kansas Speedway for five years, and were required to buy two weekends....Trucks/IRL & Cup/Nationwide totalling about $1300. Add in travel, accomodations, etc the total per year came out to about $3000.

For that we can cover our rent in Florida for the winter, so we reluctantly gave up the seats. Four days of racing vs. a winter of warm RVing....the choice was a no-brainer

I am sad to admit that you made the right choice...

It wasn't a fun decision to make, MM, as we truly love live big time racing. There's nothing like being there where you can really hear it, feel it and smell it. We do plan to catch live races occassionally though in our travels

I think we all are going to see a different NASCAR this coming season, sponsers having to leave, people not buying seats in advance not only because of the economy but also the tracks are not near sellouts anymore.
NASCAR is working hard to lower costs for the teams and I hope they work as hard to lower costs for you and me.

NASCAR did a lot of it to themselves. It has governed the rules to the point of boredom. The COT is a joke. They want all the cars to be equal then why doesn't NASCAR just build the cars and lease them to the teams on Sunday? Top 35 rule, let the fastest 43 cars race.
Remember real race cars don't have fenders!

We've gone to the Vegas race for the last 7 years and this coming Feb race will be our last. We will be wintering in the South from now on and will do the Spring and Fall race at Phoenix and not incur the hotel expenses.

This is one of the reasons I chose only to go to races with both the Truck and Cup series for '09. The past few years of CTS have had the most excitement and "racing" of the big three. Plus cheaper tickets!! But I still can't seem to throw in the towel on the Cup series... however, I feel i'll be reaching for the "rag" soon though.

Anybody here go to the Brickyard 400? I know last years race was a joke due to the tire problems but it has to be better this year. I'm looking at camp ground #2 thats across from the paddock. Want to pick a camp ground that you can sleep at night. We live in northern Indiana and do both Michigan races but want to add another. Would try Chicago but you have to buy tickets for all the races. Any info would sure help.
