Polar Plunge

March 21, Patterson Harbor Marina and Campground, Republican City, Nebraska, is having their annual Polar Plunge to raise money for children's mentoring program (Team Mates) along with celebrating St. Patrick's Day and Karaoke at the bar that evening. Last year the water was 37 degrees. I am pledged to jump again this year. Our camper is parked and ready. Fun time for a great cause, for anyone in the Kansas/Nebraska area!

Do you coat yourself with vaseline or some other insulator?

No insulation, oil, or anything but swim trunks and a T shirt! The first few seconds are an extreme shock, but otherwise not as bad as people would think. I'm only in the water for 20-30 seconds, just jump in off the dock and a short swim of 5-10 yards or so back to the shore!
