We're thinking about going in January too, but we don't know anything from anything about the area. I noted on the Good Sam page that there are a lot of RV Parks...and from my perception of the descriptions, some are nothing more than cleared off desert, with a dirt road...

There are at least two groups with Quartzite forums here on iRV2. Both are for the 2013 January RV show. Suggest you google iRV2 for their "location". Some of the specific brands will have their own areas for gatherings of that brand. If you attend the RV show, you'll be one of 20,000+ RV's in the area (no crowds - BLM has hundreds of thousands of acres). The 1/4 mile long sales tent WILL be packed during weekends when all of California shows up.

We plan to be there for the first time in Jan. also. We hope to spend 1 week boondocking during the big RV event. Then take off and wander around until Frb. then meet up with another group for maybe a 2 week boondocking event. I figure that will allow us to experience it during the huge event and during what I hope will be a slower time.

We have been to Quartzsite many times but never to the Big Show. This year we will finally be able to go, Rv park called and had a cancellation. This could be good or bad, crowds don't bother me but husband is less tolerant, should be interesting. I love Quartzsite!!
