Quartzsite Jan 2013

Hello Folks,
We are new to all this, the RV is is still parked in the driveway in western WA but it will be heading south next month.
Quartzsite in January is our question.

We spent an afternoon at Quartzsite a couple of years back & realized there was a LOT to see. This was the week before the RV show. The plan is to head to Quartzsite after the Rose Parade and spend the month of January in Quartzsite at someplace with full hook ups. Boondocking will come later.

Can anyone recommend a park within walking distance of the market place/ RV show?
Clean, friendly & reasonable rates...

We do have other things to do in Arizona during January and want to use this spot as home base while we travel for a few days at a time in the area.

Thanks!

Rob

We stay at Rice Ranch, nothing but desert, but has FHU sites and the sites are wide. We can walk across Hwy 95 to the RV Show and Tyson Wells swapmeet. We just go for an extended weekend.

This will be our first year at Quartzsite, AZ, this is our first year of anything RVing since we just got ours a week ago, and will be taking our maiden cruise/camping this weekend (11/2/2012). I have a reservation request form out to one of the Good Sam Parks that is noted on Good Sam's web page.

Myself, I prefer to be away from the crowd and traffic so I stay out in Brenda at the Desert Gold RV park. Quiet, friendly and nice clean park with a nice little restuarant right across the street. As I usually tow a small vehicle it makes it very easy to go back and forth as I choose. I have been doing this for the last 5 or 6 years and don't plan to change a thing in January.

Might I suggest you look at Black Rock RV in Brenda, AZ. It is about ten miles east of Q but they run hourly shuttles into town and returns on the half hour. That was you can escape the crowds and busyness when you are not in the mood.

We are going the 19th and 20th. No RV yet so staying at motel. First time to this show. Do they have used or just new (DP's)?

If the various RV dealerships do as they did in the past, there should be generous selection of both new and used coaches there.

However, considering the present economic conditions along with high fuel costs, some dealerships may decide not to bring as many coaches to Quartzsite, hard to say...

Now is a good time to buy though.

Hope you enjoy your stay there, and let us know if you leave with a new or new to you coach.

This is my first time here but judging by the ads I've seen I'd say there will be used.

FWIW there are a lot of RV parks here if you don't want to boondock.
