The Superbowl of racing is just about set to launch the 2009 racing season. Have fun at the races or if you're watching it on TV like millions of us are doing at the moment, there's no place like home.

As we watch our race let's remember our soldiers and sailors across the world who are also watching this unique "American" event.

I'm certain that we all wish God speed to all the participants of the Daytona 500 and I hope they have a safe race.

Boogidy ... Boogidy ... Boogidy .... Let's Go Racin' Boys!

As a long time fan,I may not watch much this year,I get tired of hearing nothing but,Jr,Jeff, and Jimmy from DW. Also I don,t like the Fact that that thousands have lost their jobs, but GM has millions to give to billion $ owners and million $ drivers that don,t even take time to wave to fans.I went to my first race in 1955 .when drivers did not set on thrones and look down on the little people. It is a shame for I used to love it,but I guess they can do good without us old fans.Hope you enjoy,we will be at Bristol witch will peobley be our last race.O by the way I said GM not Ford because GM took billions of our tax money and still wants more.Ford did not.

It seems like its almost considered mandatory to block other drivers from passing ,
but that move today from lapped drivers helped trigger a big handful of great racers into leaving the race very early. Thats got to hurt.

The days of the moonshiners organizing the race for the fans are obviously long gone, but today it seemed to me to move a one more little farther away from the good ol' boy network ... the cigarette and whiskey adds are gone, and now we get keithUrban and the 'Digger' cartoon that the announcers fell all over themselves (on cue) laughing about.
... oh, and a new double yellow caution line that you can't EVER cross over unless you really need to. That line is going to catch a few drivers this year I bet.

You know Ford didn't need the money because they already had a huge bank guaranteed loan. Right now if Ford fails to execute you may as well just call the company Citibank Motors because the banks practically own the company. You are correct however they did not need any bail out money.

Now the bank that loaned the money to Ford probably already got billions of our tax dollars in the form of a bailout.

My focus wasn't to invite negative discussions about NASCAR although it may be merited. I probably won't go to many races since they are kind of expensive however I think it's better than mud wrestling. Of course Allison and Yarborough gave us that during the first televised 500 many years ago.

sorry Driver, i didn't intend on sounding negative, i like racing,
i however do harken back to the more storied days and not the new cartoon character that will apparently become the figurehead,
but the racing remains fun and thats what i was watching,
i have 2 (legal) bottles of virginia corn booze in my cabinet, each less then 30 days old and transported via Fedex, call me a patron of the old way but Nascar and its ways are ingrained in me,
keep on starting more race posts ,
good race !
Mike

We make it a point to go see/photograph the cars in Daytona USA of the driver's that we like. It started back when Jarrett won in the Quality Care car, then, Earnhart's #3, & Dale Jr's #8. Now that Matt Kenseth is the Daytona 5oo champ, and Mr's Muck's favorite, we're headed down in April!

Yes I watched the 500 this weekend, but going forward I'll watch a CW Truck race and I'll watch a Nationwide race. But I'll only a Cup race if I am not doing anything else. All ya ever hear are the Cup drivers whinning and crying about who bumped them and who ran into them. They complain when another drivers punts them, but they will do the very same thing if someone is in their way.

Too many yellow flags thrown for the purpose of Television commercials, competition yellows, debris on racetrack etc. I personally think some cautins are called just to get the field closed up in the guise of better racing. Just way too many commercial interuptions to enjoy the racing any more. I have been a long time fan of NASCAR cup racing, but the past year, and probably this year also, will only watch if I have nothing else to do. Its just not what it used to be. At my ag e, I guess I could say that about a lot of things in my life.
