Not trying to scare anyone. As long as people that you know and trust are watching the rigs, theft almost never happens to RVers.

This sure put's a different view on Quartzite.
I know it's always around but to have it happen to yourself is worrisome

It happened while boondocking.

Hello Chiefneon,

I will personally respond to you. You seem to be personally concerned.

I didn't respond because I didn't visit this thread.

I am asking the same question. Have others experienced theft at Quartzsite? The folks that I know did, in a big way. If others have just had bicycles portable generators, and ice chests pilfered, than the situation is no worse than most State Beach campgrounds.

That's what I was wondering ... if they had the time and wanted all of that stuff, why didn't they just take the whole motorhome?!?

Maybe I live a sheltered life, but it's been my experieince that RVers are pretty friendly and honest people. And they do tend to keep an eye on each other's campsites. It's kinduv like a silent rule amongst RVers -- we look out for one another.

Yea, I understand that there are people out there with less than honorable motives. But I tend to put a positive spin on things whenever I can...

Actually, the Law Enforcement Officers that responded mentioned to my friends that particularly due to the isolated location of Quartzsite, it's relatively easy to spot particular stolen vehicles coming or going from the area. Especially in springtime, when it's not the busy winter paradise.

There are only so many ways in or out, (Interstate 10, or Hwy 95). It's a small town and at least one local will inform of a stolen vehicle.

Did they have an unexplained influx of cash in 2004?

Heard about "it"!? It's reassuring to know that the only theft in all of Quartzsite occurred back in 2004.
