Quartzsite update.....it was reported to me two days ago that there has been 20 or more generators stolen in Quartzsite and the surrounding area in the recent weeks. I would say it's a good time to put you SS# somewhere on your generator or other valuables left outside while in the area. We have a specific problem person who has been buying or trading drugs for stolen property and for also arranging break ins in the past few months. The town and county police and sheriffs seem to be unable or unwilling to take effective action. This is real and accurate information. If anyone is in this area and missing items....contact me and I can tell you where to check to see if they are for sale. Take care all.

I for got to suggest bring a very heavy chain and good lock for your portable generators. You might also spray paint your Honda and Yamaha generators to not look so new, recognizable, pretty and appealing. Best of luck.

I certainly would NOT put be SS # on something that is visible/public so not to add further risk of ID theft. Maybe last name, cell #, or some other unique identifier.

Ok Folks...This thread was started by a Beachdude who reported hearsay as factual information and then disappeared. You "new" members have picked it up and ran with it. Quartzite is no more dangerous than any other desert watering hole and a lot safer than most major cities. If someone has a first hand account to report ( it happened to you ) please post away....if not I am officially shooting this one dead...BANG BANG

I was in Quartzsite last week visiting a friend at his house and, his house was broken into while he was gone. They also tried to pry his trailer door open with a crowbar. This is his boot print.
The cops also got some good fingerprints so hopefully they'll be in prison soon!

When I put my Honda 2000 out I always use a heavy duty chain and lock. I also have a VERY loud motion detector attached to it when it's not running .

SS can't be used to track items, that would be against Federal Law to release that info. Better is your drivers license.

Theft at Quartzsite?
I will not worry about theft. It can't be nuff to matter against the backdrop of this fine lifestyle.
In over 60 years of camping and RVing I have had nothing hoarked from my campsite even with my Weber and Coleman et al sitting out for the taking. I don't invite it with obvious lures, and there is no Rolex on my bedside.
Have fun, y'all's

"They visited in March of 2004"
How is anything that supposedly happened 10-15 years ago pertinent?
