I was in Quartzsite from the end of December and most of January Boondocking the entire time I took reasonable precautions I have a portable solar panel which I have a cable on attached to the motorhome. Other than that I had chairs and coolers and other assorted items around the M/H the entire time no problems with theft. Also while boondocking never saw anything suspicious, people would come and go from the camp site but anyone prowling around campsites would seem to be noticed. Always felt perfectly safe leaving the R/V and going out exploring or shopping. You have the sense that fellow campers are looking out for one another, I also believe that many of the campers in Quartzsie have weapons. It is as safe there or safer than most neighborhoods.
