Thunder Over Louisville

Anyone here planning on attending Thunder Over Louisville this weekend? We'll be parked on the Indiana side at Tom Stinnett's RV Center with a bunch of other RVers.

Looks like the weather is going to be GREAT! I've heard from an inside source that the finale will be the biggest ever this year. Zambelli International that provides the fireworks for Thunder is replacing all the misfired shells that didn't go off over the years. I've been told it's a lot

I live in Louisville too... and since I work at the TARC company I kind of will be up to the rim in Thunder. Not going to formally attend the event....but have had time to look at the airport Air National Guard runway section and the military planes are arriving. It will be a nice day for attendees.... Enjoy!

Is that the same event as Thunder on the Ohio? My cousin has a friend who lives in Jeffersonville and allows him to park his TT in the yard for the weekend.

Well, it's never been known as Thunder on the Ohio. It's been Thunder Over Louisville for 25 years now. Maybe the residents of Indiana like to call it that.

For those that haven't heard of it, Thunder over Louisville is the 5th largest fireworks show in the nation and has a wonderful air show in the afternoon before the fireworks. It's the kickoff to the Kentucky Derby Festival which leads up to the famous Kentucky Derby held on the first Saturday in May.

I didn't realize Stinnett allowed RVers to park there for the show. We bought our first MH, a B+ from them! Very nice people and facility.

Karen,

If you have EVER been a customer of Stinnett's you can get in free. Just call them. You can also bring guests with RVs (even if they haven't purchased from Stinnett). The cost is $25 for a guest rig. Tom puts on a big pot luck dinner on Saturday before the fireworks and is an awesome host. We bought two travel trailers from them, but it's been over 25 years and we still come.

I'll have to remember that for next year. Do you walk down to the river or can you watch from Stinnetts?

Thanks!

You can walk (it's not that far), or Stinnett's runs two shuttles back and forth. We drove our golf cart down about 30 minutes before the fireworks.
