55 or 49 to Shreveport from Ponchotoula?

Would appreciate any input on these two route options to Shreveport, end point Dallas...best road versus best scenery heading north. Doesn't look like much difference in time or distance, so open to the option. Thanks in-advance.

There is no real scenery on either route but taking I-55 all the way to Jackson Ms and then I-20 to Shreveport is a lot longer than I-12 and I-10 to I-49 and up.

I am going to say I-49, it is mostly a good smooth interstate that tends to have very little traffic compared to I-10 or I-20. Of course you have to deal with driving through Baton Rouge going that way, so don't hit it at rush hours. Note there are relatively few developed exits along I49 which opened around 20-25 years ago for fuel stops, etc. Mostly you get to see a mix of farm country and trees along the route.

p.s. you might consider taking US90 across from Baton Rouge to I-49 this will let you avoid the Atchafalaya basin causeway bridge, and will shave a few miles off the route. I can't comment on current condition of the pavement on that section of US 90 as it has been a couple of years since I last drove it. Though if you do take US90 don't speed there are a couple of speed trap towns along that way.
