64/84 - Taos to Pagosa Springs

Anyone ever take 64/84 from Taos NM to Pagosa Springs in a Motor Home with a taod? Any thoughts or comments on that route. Looking at going that way in a few weeks and was hoping for some insight. Thanks

I just took 84 up from Santa Fe to Pagosa Springs in my MH with toad. Beautiful drive I don't remember anything too extreme to be concerned with.

Not sure about 64 from Taos, sorry.

You'll have a nice scenic drive. No problem!

Did that route a year ago, overnighted in Chama to ride the steam train. Road is not a problem.

Been several years but I remember that was beautiful country. If you get by Durango ride the train to Silverton. Great scenery.

Nice drive! The Toad was an Odyssey the last time we crossed. The train in Chama is a Bucket List item for many. We have crossed it off, had a ball.

The Chama train is best in the fall with colors. The Durango train has a little more variety.

We are also looking at Taos to Chama and Hwy 64 from 285 to 84 is restricted for motor carriers. I would guess we will be ok with a 37' 5r but hoping for confirmation. We will be in Eagles Nest for a few days and head for Chama.

The Motor Carrier atlas is for semi trucks. RVs can go many places semi trucks can't. Many towns don't want semis and will re-route them. The route is just fine for you. Enjoy!

Should be no problem, good roads. Yesterday we got trapped behind a 5-er, doing 25 mph on 64 eastbound to Taos. A-hole driver passed by at least 3 pull off spots as traffic behind him built to about a mile backup. DWI? We will never know. We were #3 behind him and could not see thru the camper trailer in front of us. We ended our drive at Monte Bello, a nice stop in Taos.
