Amarillo-Dallas hwy 287
Does anyone have experience with HWY 287 South out of Amarillo going to Dallas? We're in a 45 ft coach and we're flat towing.
Thanks in advance

Ran that route many many times with oversize loads... just watch the speeds around the multiple small towns..... they have a very small tax base and a large need to "Pad the budget" !!!!!!

Thanks Dave, Same to you!!
Looks like we can get down that way but we found some older threads that mention a lot of construction on the North side of Dallas, we're now figuring the most hassle free way to end up on I-20 East.

Well I'd suggest waiting until you can get a wagon train of at least 20. The Indians have been attacking smaller parties. Then hire 20 armed guards you can trust. The bad ones will rob you and leave you to die. Carry as much water and food as you can. This being winter both are in short supply, even the road kill gets snatched up quickly!

It's good road with lots of nice rest areas. I like to get off 287 at Wichita Falls on 281 south thru Milsap to I 20 or 180 into Weatherford then I 20 across the metroplex. If you want a park stop at Oak Creek west of Weatherford or east of Dallas past Terrell to Blue Bonnet Ridge. Both very nice parks. All of the above has been done both with our 45' class A and the 5th wheel. Enjoy the ride.
