Anyone else in windy NM?

We are in Grants NM. The wind is blowing 40-50mph. The dust is blowing incredibly. There were three or four rigs that pulled out today. We decided to stay another day. I can't believe anyone would drive in this wind. Even the tractor trailers were parking at wal-mart by 11 am. Anyone else out here in western NM?

We were at Elephant Butte about a month and the wind was blowing about 40 to 50 mph.

I lived in Albuquerque for 8 years, always hated the windy season. We would see cars come into the shop with paint sand blasted and windshields pitted so badly they had to be replaced. The sand gets into everything.

Tis the windy season - get out at sunup, be in hiding by 10am. If still in Grants, take drive down highway 53 and check out the lava flows and volcanic vents. If closer to Gallup, cruise south on highway 400 thru the national forest. If a mountain biker, the trails near the Hilso Trailhead (about 7 miles south of Ft. Wingate) are fantastic (don't miss the lone pine lookout)!!
