Anyone make the trip in a DP or same size RV from around Ardmore, Ok to Branson Ridge RV park, on Hwy 265 in Branson Mo? Debating on whether or not to travel all the way up to Ok City and hit I44 or snake across on I69/I75. Both are about the same distance except one just has smaller roads. Any help will be most appreciated.

We live near Branson and I would recommend using I44. There will be tolls, but the speed is faster and less curvy. The closer you get to Branson using the other route, it is quite curvy and will slow you down quite a bit. I44 to Springfield Mo then south on 65 Hwy to Branson will be quicker. Recommend getting off of 65 Hwy at Hwy 465 (about 5 miles north of Branson) to avoid the Branson strip which is crazy busy this time of year.

I haven't found too many good roads in Oklahoma over the past year.

As for the tolls, are they stop and pay or drive thru and get a bill mailed to your license plate like some other states.

I believe it will charge your Texas toll tag if you have one, my Oklahoma one works in Texas.

HiHighway 65 is closed from I 44 south through Springfield. Alternate is 160/60 around Springfield.

Starting August 10th, 2014 you can use your NTTA Sticker TollTag transponder on all ten (10) Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) turnpikes. These include: Turner, Will Rogers, H.E. Bailey, Indian Nation, Muskogee, Cimarron, John Kilpatrick, Cherokee, Creek and Chickasaw. Your NTTA account must be in good standing to qualify for Interoperability on OTA roads.

You might also check the NTTA website if that is what you use.

Bummer on 65 being closed. With me traveling that route next week in a DP, may pose an issue. As for the tolls, I guess I will stop and pay as I don't think I can get any type of pass between now and then. Did some homework on this trip, forgot about the toll issue. Lesson Learned I guess.

Hello for what it is worth, I live in OKC and planning a trip soon, I will be taking I-44 to 412 , and then 412 to 65N to Branson.

I was there in past and left Branson 65 to 412 to 49 and down to I-40 came in going east on I-40, stopping in Sallisaw, OK.

You could look to see if you could pick up I-40 at some point without having to 44 route. I was pulling 30 TT when I was going back home.
Roads was good, not lot of hills mostly 2 lane.

Conclusion: We made the trip using I-44 out of Ok City. As we got closer to Springfield, we talk an alternate route as 65S was indeed closed in places. The route we took ended up taking us thru the winding curvey roads with speeds of 10-30 MPH. I won't take this route again, especially in a 40' DP. With all the construction ongoing to I65, we took 65 South out of Branson to I-40. This route is indeed longer. In hindsight, I would have taken another alternate out of Branson, gone North to I-44 and spent another $22 (2 stops $11 each) to get back to OK City. Hope this helps all who plan on making a trip to Branson coming from the West. Travel Safe.
