Arkansas to Seattle WA in January

Need help planning a trip from Mountain Home AR to Seattle WA in January. I assume that we won't be able to go the northern routes because of weather. We are prepared to go from Arkansas through Ok to NM to Vegas but am unsure of the trip from Vegas to Seattle. Any thoughts or suggestion would be welcome.

In January I think I would go I-10 into Arizona then north on 93 to Kingman, AZ and on to Las Vegas, Nevada and on to Twin Falls, Idaho. Then pick up I-84, I-82, I-90 into Seattle. Watch weather reports constantly and build in some free days in case you have to wait for weather to clear.

I would go the south route 410 to 99 to I-5. That will miss LA. It can be a problem if a strong cold front came through. I did close to that route in December from corpus Christi Texas. Got slammed a Ft. Stockton, tx. with ice 18 wheelers sliding off the road everywhere. Watch the weather and do not be in a hurry or you might get stranded for a few days. January is a watch and see. Good luck.

Bob, if you go the way TwoGypsies say, you'll go right by Mountain Home....IDAHO! LOL! Since I see you're from Mountain Home AR I thought that might be kinda fun. Although I will say that YOUR Mountain Home sure looks a lot nicer.

I was stationed there while in the AF and the running line was, "There's a girl behind every tree"....it's a desert.
LOL!

If you do go this way, you will have the Blue Mountains in OR to deal with along with "Deadmans Pass". I know..sounds ominous, but it's not bad, depending on the weather of course.

Also, Snoqualmie Pass in Washington can be a challenge as well.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

That time o f year, the weather is a real CXXX shoot. You can get ice and snow any where along the southern route.
