Having driven all over the world Atlanta is a piece of cake. We've driven it both ways several times a year and almost always during rush hour. Even tried the bypass once and found it worse.

Knowing which lanes to get in helps. My Garmin gives me a warning about a mile out which helps.

The only way I know to avoid Atlanta is to go way East - maybe I95 or West into Alabama and use I65. Personally I prefer to skip AL and go thru Atlanta.

Drive save - Richard

Is it any better on a Sunday morning? Usually when I've gone through big towns on a Sunday the traffic was quite a bit lighter.

I must say I found the worst big rig traffic worse in Atlanta than any other place in the country.

I just did FL-east TN-FL last week. Up wed and back sun. I took 75-441-23-40 on wed and 40-75 back on sunday going straight thru ATL. If not for the 45 min delay on 75 in Ocala on the return trip the times would have been identical, 12 hrs. I've been traveling this route over the last 40 years and 75 is a crap shoot, one wreck or the never ending construction and you are parked.
