Atlanta to Destin, Florida

We are going to Destin for the first time with our MH (40'). Is there a best route anyone can suggest? Google Maps and Trucker Path have totally different ways.

Google says to stay on I-85 to I-65 South and then SR 31.

Trucker Path says get off I-85 at zHwy 231 (Pike Road) and follow that to Destin on two lane roads.

Is there a better way? Can anyone give experience getting there?

Thanks for your help!

I-85 south to exit 9 (US 271/TO US 231) in montgomery
271 south ~5-7 miles where it will dead end into US231. turn left.
US231 through Troy, Ozark and Dothan. 231 is 4-lane all the way to the FL line. don't know beyond that. traffic in towns but otherwise clear sailngs.

Atl to Destin

Maybe too late to help but a much better route is I-85 to Montgomery then take I-65 toward Mobile and get off at exit 114 and take hwy 55 to Andalusia. From there take hwy55 on to Florala then hwy 331 through DeFuniak Springs on south all the way to Hwy 98 at the coast. Turn west on 98 and in about 5 miles you're in Destin. Much more interstate, fewer small towns, fewer speed changes(speed traps) and quite a few miles shorter.. I make the Birmingham to Destin area trip at least 8 times a year and have tried about all the different route. Look at Topsail Hill state park cg (very nice). Eat seafood at Dewey Destins at their small resturant on a pier in the bay. Drive hwy 30A back toward the east to see Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove, Alice Beach(?spelling) Watersound, Rosemary Beach, one of the hottest real estate ares in Fl.

We make the trip all the time from DESTIN to N Atlanta up 231/431 to Columbus and up I85. Lots of options to stop if you want and good roads 65 mph plus if you want. We live on 30A and concur with Tooth Doc on taking the 18 mile scenic drive.

I agree with Tooth Doc. This is an excellent route.
