We will be traveling from Yuma, AZ to Benson, AZ in early March. We're thinking of making a little side trip through Ajo, AZ along the way, which will take us along AZ-85 & 86 for about 150 miles.

So I'm wondering what kind of road 85 is. Will it be an easy drive for a 40' diesel pusher towing a car? Or would we be better off to just backtrack from Ajo back up to I-10?

It's always nice to get off the interstate when possible, but not if it means narrow, windy roads and lots of added hills to climb.

Thanks for any input.

I'm not sure which road you really want information about -- 85 or 86, but we drove this route when traveling from Quartzsite to Tucson and then back again in January and earlier this month. Both AZ-86, or the Ajo Highway, and AZ-85 are good two-lane roads...you'll have no problems with them.

Be on the lookout for Crested Saguaro on AZ-86...very rare, but there are at least 3 on this road!

Sorry, I did mean to ask about AZ-86. I mis-typed when I wrote 85. Thanks so much for the reply! Now I'm really looking forward to the trip.
