AZ Route 64

Has anyone ever driven a MH on AZ Rt 64, from US 89 into the Grand Canyon NP. Is it OK for a 40ft MH? Its about 55 miles that I'm told is worth the drive from a scenic POV. It looks fine on Google. Just checking. Thanks.

I have done it. No problem. My coach is listed as 38 feet but measures 39 1/2 bumper to bumper. I was also towing my Saturn VUE at the time. It does get a little tighter once you get in the park but nothing that earth shattering.

When you go through the park gate the ranger will give you a map. Ask him to mark the stops that have RV parking. They have expansive parking lots.

... And remember, they run full sized tour buses through the park. So a 40ft MH should be a piece of cake!

Thanks, willy! What's the campground situation like there? We're planning on one night, and it looks like the only place with hookups is "Trailer Village". What's your experience? Thanks again!

Yes... Trailer village I believe is the only option inside the park. It is privately operated by a cessioner. It is a bit of a parking lot, but close to the canyon (1/2 mile from the rim).

Note that in and around Canyon Village maneuvering gets a bit tight. Especially if there's a lot of traffic. We made it in and out with all our paint, just have to take it slow.

Not crowded at all. Just stayed there 5 days this last week. Maybe 20 RV's there other than all the full time ones.

We just pulled in without reservations. Staff at check-in very friendly & helpful.
