Baltimore tunnel - propane

I was talking to someone at a CG last week and he insisted that now in a Class A with chassis mounted LP tank (I assume turned off) they are permitted to go thru.

Anyone know about this, been going round the beltway.

Have not heard that anything has changed from this regulation:
Propane, Hazardous Materials and Oversized Vehicle Information:

Vehicles carrying bottled propane gas in excess of 10 pounds per container (maximum of 10 containers), bulk gasoline, explosives, significant amounts of radioactive materials, and other hazardous materials are prohibited from using both the Fort McHenry and Baltimore Harbor Tunnels. In addition, vehicles in excess of 13 feet, 6 inches, in height, or 96 inches (8 feet) in width; and all double trailers are prohibited from using the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel. For additional information regarding these restrictions, please call 410-537-1374.

I used to go around over the bridge, but I figured I would give it a try through the tunnel. I went through a manned toll lane and asked if a problem. Guy said no problem go through. I have been through a dozen times since with no issue. I am just relaying my own personal experience. Some will agree and say as long as it is permanently mounted go through, and others will say no way. This has been discussed many times on this and other forums. Good luck with whatever you decide, but as of yet, I personally stopped going around a while ago, and I have yet to have an issue.

There was no change to the current reg as of 3 weeks ago. Unless this just changed I would not attempt to use the tunnel.

I would not tempt fate. The signs near the tunnel that address the issue are pretty unambiguous on the matter.

but that sign contradicts the rule that says some propane is ok

"Vehicles carrying bottled propane gas in excess of 10 pounds per container "

40+ years traveling up and down that area and the Baltimore tunnel always has been a NO NO if you have any propane. I guess somebody should call that authority and ASK if things have changed. I always go around through Annapolis.

Under these regulations, vehicles carrying bottled propane gas in excess of 10 pounds per container (maximum of 10 containers), bulk gasoline, explosives, significant amounts of radioactive materials, and other hazardous materials are prohibited from using the Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) or the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895). The Francis Scott Key Bridge (I-695, the Baltimore Beltway) is a convenient alternative route for crossing Baltimore's Harbor.

jimbo 2013 - Do you mean Towson, Md.? Depending where you are coming or going from. If you are heading I95 N or South we use the Key Bridge. There is a toll to use this bridge.

Baltimore tunnel - propane

Since the OP was referring to a Class A motorhome which would presumably not have any propane bottles, I fail to understand the problem.

Of course they could go through.
