We actually have been at the one in Hammond a few years ago. Hammond is about 40 miles from home. We even met the Trigger's (sp). We also stayed at Eastbank COE campground at Bainbridge last May.

I have been looking at options for an early spring trip, so I will check into these locations.

If you are looking for a good spring trip, good people, great food, and a real good time. Try the Cajun RV Rally in Rayne La. Couple of weeks after Easter.

Out west is the one held on Labor Day weekend. It's sponsored by the Nugget in Sparks (next door to Reno). It's HUGE and yummy. The participants have to be invited and come from many miles away.

We lived in Raleigh for five years before we retired and started fulltiming. My DW's people are all from eastern NC, and she just loves that Carolina BBQ. Personally, if I never see another ounce of pulled pork it won't break my heart.

Texas beef ribs? Well, that's another story........

When will the 2015 date for the BBQ cookoff in Memphis come out?

reubenray,

I just looked on a BBQ site but nothing posted yet. I suggest you contact the Memphis tourist bureau and see in they have a definite date in May.
They are probably already in the planning process.

Thanks BBQ Judge - I will get with them as I get closer to making some reservations. What RV park would you suggest for the Memphis Festival?

I've never been there for the festival, we are usually judging elsewhere but its on our bucket list. However, I understand it is very crowded. Some of these attendees must be RVers so I'm guessing the same applies to the campgrounds in the area. I've stayed in the KOA across the river, young lady served a good breakfast in one of the buildings.

If you don't get enough BBQ at the festival, Interstate BBQ (Neeley's), Central BBQ, and one near Graceland (name slips my mind) are decent BBQ. I can't recommend Rendezvous which is in town.

If you've never seen the Peabody Hotel ducks, its worth fighting the crowd.

The dates for the Memphis in May BBQ Cooking Contest will be May 14th to May 16th. I now need to find a RV park close enough for easy access to it.
