Bend Oregon to Ontario Oregon

Looking for advice on traveling from Bend to Ontario, Oregon in 32 ft MH. I would like a more scenic route, but do not want mountain passes that are difficult to navigate. Any comments on traveling US26?

20 is direct. 26 you will have to go north to Redmond first. 26 is decent, but can be a bit windy around the John Day fossle beds area

Well, I certainly would not take 26 currently because of the fires. 20 would be better right now.
