Benson AZ to Big Bend National Forest Tx

We are currently in Bensin,Az, and have reservations at South Padre Island. We noticed TX hwy 90 heading to Del Rio. We thought we could go that way down to Laredo and points south. We like staying off the interstate, and this route looks pretty darn interesting.

Thoughts, advice?
Thanks.

It's a great route for big RVs. It's very pleasant driving. We've done it often - and even from Benson.

We made it to Alpine, Tx, staying at the Lost Alaskan CG. I really like this small cg. Going to see the Marfa Lights tonight. Going to be a bit chilly tomorrow morning. 30 deg. Lots of interesting people here in the camp, and we all share the same intrest. How cool.
