Best roads to take

Help. We are south of crescent city California on 101. What is the best way to get to Reno. 40 foot motor home pulling a trailer. Is 299 okay? Thanks in advance

I would take 20 at Ukiah over to I-5 to Williams...299 is windy, curvy.
We have taken 199 back to grants pass...doable
299 and 36 no way
We have 40 ft safari and jeep toad

Good luck, be safe

When I-5, go south to Sac, take 80 to Reno. But on the 80 California side the road has ruts from the big trucks...Unnerving at first til you get to stateline. Feels like you can't steer or suspension problem but doable

I have been over 299 a few times in 40ft mh either towing a 8.5x20 enclosed trailer or crewcab pickup. Yes its a winding road but not enough to go out of the way to avoid it.
