Best route

What is the best route from Memphis, Tn. to Lake Guntersville State Park in Alabama.

The fastest route is U.S. 72 to Scottsboro. AL. Google shows alternative routes that are a bit shorter, but longer in time.

The "best" route always depends on what set of preferences you apply. some folks just want the fastest from A to B, some want scenery & interesting stops along the way; some prefer interstate freeways, some do everything to avoid interstates, etc.

The obvious route options seem to be: US72 to 157 to 36 to 231.
or if you prefer some limited access interstate I-22 to US278, a few more miles but at higher speeds & fewer towns to pass through, it may be the same driving time. take your pick
