Oregon 126 is about as good as any and more of a straight shot. Mostly 2 lane roads and you do go through and over the Cascades Mountains. Depending on day of travel, the only area of concern would be traffic backups before Sisters as they have been working on roads and a roundabout there for quite a while. If it is a weekend, traffic gets worse because of travelers and tourists in Sisters, along with pedestrian traffic who have no issue stepping off the curb to cross the street. You do not want to take the rough that goes up Santiam Pass and the observatory, so be sure to skip that in the MH. You'll see your rear end around curves.

Very good advice HD! We were through there last September and it was a zoo then. Things got better when we made it to Powell Butte to visit wifes niece.

A more scenic route... go south to Reedsport and take Hwy 38 (Umpqua Hwy) over... to Drain/I5. Then pickup 126 in Springfield.

Lower Umpqua river is almost like a 'Norweigan' river coming down to the sea. Very different from most of the other orygun rivers. Elkton is a neat town too.

From Florence to Bend, I would do 126 to Eugene and then hwy 58 across the Cascades. If you took 126 all the way to hwy 20 junction it might be quite smokey because there is a large fire in the Cascades west of Sisters and 126 prior to the junction with 20.

I-5 south to I-205, to I-84E. up to the Columbia River Gorge on I-84 to Biggs Junction. US 197 south to Madras, OR. US 97 south to Bend. This route is probably the fastest in your rig with good roads, gentle curves and no steep hills.

Looks like we will be in Newport Oregon first. Does that change your suggestion?
