I-95 to I-287 near the NY/CT border
I-287 to I-78 in NJ (wave to me when you go by Exit 11 !!!)
I-78 to I-81
Take I-81 all the way down to TN and pick up I-40
Take to I-75
Pick up I-59 in Chattanooga
In Gadsden, AL you can head south on AL 21 right in to Talledega.

This route lets you avoid the traffic mess of NYC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, DC and Atlanta.

Safe travels!
