Best route Montgomery, AL to Panama City, FL

Hi,

We've gone hwy 231 down to Florida but driving around Dothan, AL is a real PITA. Is there a better route to I-10 from Montgomery? What is the best route from I-10 down to Panama City, there seems to be several choices looking at the map but not familiar enough with the area to select the best highway for travel in a Class A with towd.
Appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Jim

We always use 231 for the trip, the fastest way to Panama City. Yes Dothan is a little slow but still the best way.

We take I65 to I85 and go east to Taylor rd. turn south from there we go to Troy and then enterprise from there we take 167 to 79 to PC. not sure about the rd # but think it is 231 to Troy and then right to Enterprise. It sounds complicated but it is not. In Troy there is a family style Restaurant that serves a killer buffet. If you need me to I can get the GPS out and get rd. numbers for you.

Hwy. 331 south from Montgomery is the easiest way and about the same distance as 231. Go all the way down to Hwy. 98 East of Destin, then East to Panama City Beach. Much better drive in my opinion. I recently drove 231 to Montgomery from East of PCB, I didn't like it.

I concur. In May we travelled from Destin up 331 to Montgomery. Not a bad ride.
