Best route through Spokane to Sandpoint, ID

we will be heading to and from Sandpoint, ID for our Banff trip in September. Would you suggest Hwy. 2 or I-90? Thanks!

What do you like? 2 is a mountain highway, often 2-lane, sometimes running along with 20. It's a world-class motorcycle route, for all the usual reasons. Scenery is spectacular. Passes are twisty. Speeds are moderate. Time is long.

I90 is a slab with all that's implied there - whatever speed you want to do, on cruise, 4 lane or better, truck stops. Time is not so long. Drive it one-handed, reading a book.

Both get you there. With 2 it's the journey. With 90 it's the destination.

We always drive scenic.... Hwy 2 isn't bad at all. It'll give you practice getting to Banff!

Definitely 2! Drove 2-20 from Wisconsin to Vancouver on our way to Alaska

As others said, 2 is a much nicer drive. It's beautiful and has fewer trucks than 90.

We took Hwy. 2 in both directions. However, we learned that our GPS app is crazy in Spokane. It took us meandering down small streets, etc. So, on the way home, we only paid attention to the highway signs and that was much better.
