On the Illinois side we continued on I-255 until we picked up I-55 going north to Springfield. The only traffic we encountered, 3 pm, on a weekday was at the I-44 / 270 interchange. Other than that it was pretty smooth sailing. I've been through Stl many times from N-S-E-W and this was the easiest transition I ever had. IMO there is to much commotion with lane changes, traffic, etc going I-64 through downtown after crossing the river. I always like the path of least resistance even if it is a bit longer.
X-2 I have traveled in, around, thru St. Louis 1000's of times in the semi over the years, and this Rt. is the least traffic no matter what time of day! If you go straight thru, do not stop for anything till you get to Troy, Il. as E. St. Louis, Il. is a very bad area, Just say'n! Rail!
