We always took camper to Fort Wilderness every Jan or Feb. Found best way was I77 to I26 to I95 into FL.

Per MS Streets & Trips: US-6>>SR-11>>I-80>>I-76>>I-77>>I-26>>I-95.
Have a safe trip.

I'm looking to do the same trip next year too. Any recommendations on a good place to stop overnite halfway down, say around Columbia, SC?

The above route is fine during the summer, but not the winter.
I would suggest going down I71 to Cinci and down I75 thru Ga. at that time of year.

Also a KOA at RT 17 and I95 that we have used.

Troth,
We've stopped at Barnyard RV Park numerous times on our way to and from Florida. It's a good little overnight park with adequate hookups and level sites.
We usually just pull in and stay hitched up staying only for the overnight stop. It's about 3 miles off of I-26 from exit 111A south of Columbia, SC. Their address is Lexington, SC in case you want to look them up in the TL directory.

RG Wise has it right. Follow his directions and you will be much happier than trying to go I-75. We have done both many times and prefer his route by far. It is a little farther for us but well worth avoiding Knoxville, Atlanta and all the construction. An added benefit is the scenery is much better IMHO. Good luck

There is a nice campground right off the exit from 95. It's in Florence and it's called Swamp Fox. I beleive it's the 76 to Florence exit but it's super close to 95.
