Best way to see New York

We will be staying at Liberty Harbor RV Park. Don't plan to bring a toad.
Any Do's or dont's to be aware of?

Personally, I'd bring the toad. We've been there several times and found it more convenient to just drive in, it's not that hard. However, the PATH is a few blocks away from Liberty Harbor, so you could walk there and take the PATH into the city. Then, you're at the mercy of the subways (or taxis). I guess I'm just not that adventurous. I wouldn't want to be walking back to Liberty Harbor in the dark, it's just not that good of an area.

I take it you mean nyc if you're staying at liberty harbor?

that part of jersey city is quite near Paulus Hook, which has a few nice restaurants.
take a taxi to renatos on central ave for excellent home style Italian, local style.

to get across the Hudson I prefer the water taxis to the path subway, and think it's safer.
and exploring nyc can be done in a number of ways.
big apple tours, walking tours, museums only, restaurants only, you name it.
go to times square for cheap tickets to broadway shows, that's sort of a 'must not miss' while in nyc for sure.

I'd suggest you buy either 2, 3 or 4 day passes for the city tour buses. There are choices of tours and companies but on most you can get off and back on at the various tour spots. They also provide museum tickets, harbor excursions, etc. as part of the tour package. We have stayed twice at Liberty Harbor RV and did not have any problems using the subways or the ferry service. We did schedule our travel during none rush hours.

City or the state?? There's a whole lot more to New York than the city.

We would really just like to see the high points
statue of liberty, ellis island, empire state building, twin towers site, central park, Brooklyn bridge.
Not much on theater, fine dinning

The operator of Liberty Harbor will set you up with a city tour. The tour bus will pick you up right at Liberty Harbor. Good tour. 1/2 day takes you all around the city--Central Park, time square, twin tower site- full day tour adds Statute of Liberty. The ferry docks right there at the RV park. About 4 blocks to the path subway. It will take you most anyplace in the city.

Stayed at Liberty harbor twice
We loved it
Day 1 Caught the ferry to Wall St - it's 30 steps from your coach
Day 2 - 10 caught the path
Only used the toad to drive to Hokobin cup cake shop - I think we cauldron have caught the train which runs around the area.
Liberty Harbor is just a parking lot
The amenities are fine, they will empty your holding tanks for $20
Enjoy

From your lot there you will be able to see the Statute of Liberty By walking out the back of the park you can get on a walk path and walk to liberty park. There you can catch the boat out to liberty island. It would be a pretty good walk. 1.5 mile probably. Not sure about last post on the $20 dump fee. There is a dump station in the corner of the park. No full hook up sites.
