Birmingham, AL Flying J

just a heads up for those passing through Birmingham, AL intending to fuel at the Flying J at exit 262. there are two RV lanes but the gas pumps on the LEFT side of those lanes are out of service. no time frame for repairs was available. the pumps on the RIGHT side of those lanes are working. we were fortunate enough to be there at a quiet time and were able to enter one of the lanes from the "wrong" direction to get fuel.

Thats a bummer. Use that place frequently as our first stop when west bound from here.

We learned that the hard way going south in February. Here's another thing we learned: I decided to top off the propane as no one was waiting to gas up behind us. My wife called in on the phone on the post while I was pumping gas. Got done and we waited and waited. She finally went in and said we needed propane and they said they wait to send the guy out until you pull up to the propane (About 8') so pull ahead if you need it or they won't come out. Luckily I was also able to get turned around to get gas. On the way north we knew the drill. It would be nice if they put a sign up if those pumps are to be out of service for awhile.
