We're planning a trip in August that will take us west from Boise in our 34' class A. We're looking for the best route across Oregon that will take us thru Eugene and then on to the coast. From there we plan to head north on 101 all the way to Astoria, then head home on US30 and I-84.

We've had our class A for only a few months, and this will be our longest "off-the-inerstate" trip so far. We're looking for routing that won't leave us feeling "beat up" at the end of the driving day.

Thanks for suggestions, recommendations, and guidance!

GD540,
The choice for the quickest and easiest route seems to be Highway 20 which you pick up in Boise and head west. Burns, OR has a very nice full service RV park. Hiwy 20 continues to Bend, OR and then over the Cascades through Sisters. This is a very good road and very scenic.

After passing through Sisters, Hiwy 20 intersects with Hiwy 126. We stayed along the McKensie River a few years ago on this route and found it very relaxing.

Take 126 into Eugene. From Eugene, continue west on 126 to Florence. Once you are on the coast, you can continue north on Hiwy 101 to Astoria.

Happy travels, and enjoy this beautiful scenery.

Amen to what Paul said. Did this three years ago and was scenic, drivable, and relaxing.

For someone who likes using the net to answer such questions, Rand-McNalley offers trip planning that is kind of fun. "plan a road trip" provides full info based on points you enter such as "Boise-Ontario-Bend-Eugene-Florence" or any other points you may want to enter.....

Steve & Sherri,

You can try Rand McNalley and look on the left-hand-side menu bar for the "Plan a Road Trip" link.
