Lake Superior Circle Tour
We loved touring the UP in Michigan last year so much so that we are returning to do the Ontario and North Shore of Lake Superior. We will be leaving on August 30th from the Boston, MA area and are trying to figure out if we want to go through Toronto or enter Canada at Sault St Mary. Is there anything to see in Toronto and on that stretch of road leading to Superior? Thanks for any information you may be able to provide. This will be our first time to actually do the Circle tour and " must sees" would be appreciated.
Thanks, r0n...........

It's been a few years but we left the Cape to NH, VT and NY entering Ont at Massenna,NY, near the Eisenhower Locks. We re-entered the US at Sault St Marie. It was a nice right but our roads are better.

You will have to help me here. How long do you plan to stay in the Toronto area? What are your interests. Toronto has zoos, theater, sports, fun parks etc. What time of year are you going to make the trip?

Leaving from Boston Aug 30 You have 'Many options' You could go North thru Albany and come into Canada thru Montreal. A Beautiful trip!!!!!
You could Come west a bit and enter Canada at Gananoque, or further west at Niagara Falls.
Niagara Falls would put you west of Toronto.
Toronto has the CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame a Great Zoo Etc.
For Your trip North I would reccomend the Sault St Marie to Thunder Bay along Hwy 17 on the North shore of Lake Superior. It is 'The Best'
You could get back in to the USA in T Bay.
Have 'FUN'
Rick

If you want to visit Toronto I would recommend this campground. Toronto. It is located close to the Go Train and the Subway. Quiet and will not be busy after Labor Day. On your trip north you could consider going to Manitoulin Island and then to 17.

Thanks for the great information. I never thought of going thru Ottawa it looked like it was a lot longer trip that way but the mileage From Boston to SS Marie is actually shorter using that route. The only reason I mentioned Toronto was because I thought possibly entering at Niagara and traveling up RT 400 and 69 skirting Georgian Bay may be the most scenic and shortest route. I think I will go via Thousand Islands we have visited there before and it was great. Now I have to figure out if my Sprint cell-phone will work up there.
Thank for the Help, r0n

I can not recommend driving to SS Marie through Ottawa. I drove that route a couple of years ago and the road from Ottawa to North Bay is extremely rough. May be some one who has driven it this year can update this.
