Can a motor home travel the bridges on HY 90 between Ft Macomb and FT Pike?

Want to run Chef Menteur HwY West to East?

Not sure what you mean by Ft. Macomb and Ft. Pike. There is a McComb Mississippi as well as Pike County, MS and yes, U.S. 90 is favorable for motor home travel.

With regard to your Chef Menteur Hwy passage....I would (strongly) suggest that you motor through during daylight hours only. It is not the best part of town. Send me a PM if I can help you with any more info on the area.

We just left there - I don't see any problem going that way - scenic - There is a casino campground about 1/2 hour east of NO that is on the beach and cheap Nice place

Did you run HY 90 into New Orleans and go by Ft Macomb and FT Pike?

Hwy 90 is a nice run, with very little traffic, and not much of any development on it until you get closer into the city. Which direction are you traveling? If headed east, it is a very scenic route all the way through Ms. If you are headed west into the city I would recommend you get back onto the I-10 around Paris Rd (510) as the hwy becomes more of an eyesore and is not the best of places in the eastern part of New Orleans. In Ms, there is the Silver Slipper Casino on the South side of Hwy 90, but you have to go about 4 miles on a two lane road to get to the beach. It is still good enough for RV travel though. The buffet at the Silver Slipper is one of my favorites though, I should be there tomorrow night for the crab special. Further east down Hwy 90 is another casino ( Hollywood Casino) on the North side of Hwy 90, located on the bay (Bay St. Louis) it too has ample parking areas for an RV and also you have to travel on a side road to get to it. Rereading the original question, the bridge at Chef Pass is an older one, narrow, but passable and the one at the Rigolets, by Fort Pike is a new high rise one with plenty of room.

Traveling east on Hwy 90 I usually start around the 510 (Paris Rd) exit from I-10, and from then on you can go all the way into Alabama on it. It is a very nice road trip.

Define "large"

Looking at google maps earth view it looks like you have to park across the street and walk to it
But street view looks like it has a locked gate! ...(see pic following)

is that bridge a one lane 15 ton bridge ????

If you intend to stay on 90 up to Lafayette, be ready to take flight a few times !

Last time we did it with a large 5er and that horrible road even flung our sink covers off !!!

The expansion joints were rough enough, but the bridges and roadway connections are distant cousins !

18 wheel trucks pass through this bridge on a regular basis, it actually used to be the only route before I-10 was built. It is an old bridge, two lanes, kind of narrow, but it is only a couple hundred feet long.
Fort Mccomb is not open to the public and was never developed as a park site. Fort Pike has been developed and is open to the public as a national park.
