Question Bryce Canyon area from Denver in late May

Hi guys -

Looking to visit Bryce Canyon area - coming from Denver area. Would like to minimize time on I-70, considering taking Rte 24 to Capital Reef, then Rte 12 south to Bryce. Driving Sprinter "B+" with toad. This an acceptable route for travel/towing with my rig? Also interested in CGs along that route - prefer dry camping vs resort-type places. All input appreciated! Thanks! ST

I am hoping to be in Bryce Canyon in about 2 weeks. Any local camping info would be appreciated.

OP: For Capitol Reef the park itself has a very nice campground. Also, soon after getting on 12 towards Bryce is Singletree national forest campground on your left. At Escalante there's lots of boondocking - stop at the Visitor Center for help. Also Escalante State Park and farther on is Kodachrome Basin State Park. Calf Creek Falls has a nice dry campground. Once you get to Bryce, there are two national park campgrounds in the park. A little farther west on Hwy 12 is Red Canyon national forest campground in a pretty setting.

For hookups at Bryce the best place is Ruby's at the park entrance.

All national parks have an awesome web site of things to do, camping, road alerts or other special alerts, etc. Check them out. Here is Capitol Reef's:

Piece of cake drive, and pretty spectacular too. Consider a stop at Goblin Valley, boondocking against Wild Horse Butte nearby, and hiking Little Wild Horse Canyon while you're there (or Ding & Dang Canyons if you're more adventurous).Click image for larger version

Another vote for Ruby's.

Thanks, folks!
Sounds like route is doable (yeah!) and worth the drive (double yeah!). Still working on timing, etc., so will take your input and keep pouring over the maps. Still open for any other thoughts/ideas! Thanks! ST
