Completing our seasonal stay at YNP and need to get to Hill city, SD ASAP. Appreciate any advice and/or comments as to follow HWY 90 to Rapid City-then 16 to Hill City OR take hwy 90 to Moorhead then HWY 16 to Newcastle up to Hill City. Have f450 w/ excel 38.7 ft fifth wheel.
Many thanks, maverik

I might try the east entrance to Cody, Greybull and Worland on 16 then over to I-90 and then 16 down to Custer and then to Hill City up by Crazy Horse on 385 to Hill City.
Little bit curvy just west of Custer near the Wyoming border, but easily doable with RV.

We just went from YNP to Hill City SD. last month. We did it in one day. We took 16 to Buffalo WY and then I90 to Moorcroft and back on 16 to Custer. Picked up 385 In Custer to Hills SD. Hardest part was between Ten Sleep and Buffalo WY. Roads are good just typical mountain driving. Hwy 16 between WY and Custer has a short section where it gets pretty narrow but very duable. We did it in 40 ft MH and toad.

There is some great scenery along the way so enjoy, especially from Ten Sleep to Buffalo. Have a great trip!
