CA I 5 south to 58 east to Tehachapi, CA

the 58 east off of I 5 south has got to be a very busy road. I have used 46 east thru wasco to get to 99 south then 58 east and I'm thinking of trying Lerdo Highway east thru Shafter then 99 south to 58 east. google maps wants me to take Stockdale highway east to westside parkway but then dumps you on Bakersfield city streets before you get to the 99. Decisions, Decisions ???

I5 to 46 to 99 to 58. The highway is there now. We came through in late October and were pleasantly surprised. Note, we used that route in reverse, heading West, but it looked bi-directional. Pat

Do the 5-46-99-58. Good drive. A lot of people worry about Hwy 46 being 2 lane, but set cruise control on 60 mph and you will hardly ever have to adjust speed.

Except, of course, in the 55mph sections. Pat

I've never seen anyone drive 55 on that road, that would be like expecting trucks to drive 55 on I5.
