CA127/178 to Pahrump, NV
Anyone ever run that route from I-15 (Baker, CA) to Pahrump, NV using CA 127 to CA 178 into Nevada vice going all the way into Las Vegas and then out again on Hwy 160. Is this a decent road for motorhomes?

We make that run every year in April for the Baker to Vegas law enforcement run. The roads are very good, although they are 2 lane, but no problem at all, losts of MH traffic on them. You will save about 60 miles of driving by going that way as opposed to going into Vegas then back out.
We always go back to Vegas for a couple of nights and stay at the Oasis RV Park, very nice place.

If your staying in Pahrump, stay at Terribles RV Park & Casino. Not as nice as in the summer but a still a great place. You'll forget your in the desert.
You said OUT AGAIN on 160... that would take you BACK to Pahrump. What is your final destination?

No problem, all good road. The only slow spot will be the last crossing over the hump to Pahrump from Shoshone.
We are at Terribles Lakeside until 10 January, site 131. If you come in before then, stop and say Hey.

Final destination is Pahrump. Had plan on staying at the Best Western RV Station. We have 4 small dogs, I believe Terrible's has a quantity restriction. We have stayed at the Saddle West parking lot RV park last time there.

Yup...ran that route (picking up I-15 at Barstow) headin to Pahrump from Palm Springs in our 40 ft. MH (towing toad) and it's a GREAT route. Pretty scenic drive from Baker to Shoshone and even Rt. 178 on in to Pahrump. ENJOY!! Steve & Lynette

We are heading there for the first time on New Years Eve from Anaheim, Ca. Glad to see that is a good route to take, that is the way we were planning on going. We plan to leave about 4am, stopping in Barstow at Flying J to top off and get some breakfast. Anything we should look for along the way? Where to buy gas in Pahrump??

For the best gas prices in any town, go to Mapquest Gas Prices.

Right now regular gas, in Pahrump, is $ 2.69 gal. If you have a Smiths card you can use it at their station and get a discount. Plenty of stations in Pahrump. Some easier in and out than others. Diesel is $ 2.81 here.
