California Toll roads

Have just relocated my coach to Los Angeles
I have a MassDot toll account for the East Coast
Didn't find it necessary in Texas.
Do I need to get a cal trans toll transponder whilst wondering up and down the west coast??

Have lived in California for 60 years, never needed a toll road.

California has very few toll roads, but most of them are in the LA area. The transponder is useful for bridge tolls which you find are numerous in the SF bay area

Most if not all the toll roads in CA use Fastrak transponder which is not part of CalTrans, it a private company. If you want to use them for your MH and towing your toad, some are posted no towing allowed. The ones that do allow towing charge by the axle for anything other two axle car. At least in the LA area, not sure about San Francisco area. If your MH has a tag you can't drive in the toll lane on most freeways in CA.

It cost me a small fortune driving up the east coast from Virginia to Boston and back
Sounds like its just the diesel in California

If you can and plan your travels around California's busy cities during rush hours you can avoid the tolls for the most part.
