Txs Traveler...still working on the route once we get there. Considering staying at Bauers Canyon RV park and driving my car to Zion and then to Bryce another day. The Capitol and Arches back to Gallup . Once we get there I'm sure all will change.

We did this trip last year in May. We stayed at Trailer Village RV Park within the Grand Canyon National Park. Shuttles pick you up and take you to the Rim. We then went through Page and up to Glendale where we stayed at Bauer's (nice small family owned park). This was our base as we drove to Zion and Bryce. Incidentally, no matter what your GPS says, Bauer's is on the west side of the highway.

Note, if you decide to come from the west, the tunnel through the mountain in Zion is not big RV friendly. They close it to traffic both ways to let a big RV go through driving in the middle. You cannot go wrong with the trip you have planned.

Williams is a nice town and they have a couple of good RV parks. I am sure the train ride is great. We chose not to do this as it limits time at the Canyon, and you will want to spend a lot of time there.

Have a great trip. Wish we were there, but as others have said, spring and fall are better.

We are planning to visit both the South and North Rims of the Grand Canyon. Is it better to access the North Rim from Kanab? We'll be in our car, it looks like the drive time would be around 4 to 5 hours round trip not sure if that leaves enough time to visit.

We visited the North Rim while camped at Bauer's in Glendale, UT. And, yes, we went through Kanab and Fredonia, AZ. As I recall it took about 2 1/2 hours one way from Glendale, UT. Several access points were closed when we were there in late May due to fallen timber, etc. so we stayed around the main Lodge (very impressive with a couple of good dining choices).

It was a good day trip and the drive was beautiful.

Attached is a photo of one viewing point at the North Rim at the Lodge.

We just traveled through there in May and had a snow storm hit just as we turned at Williams for the drive up to the canyon. It was cold, wet, miserable weather and I would not have missed it for the world. We were totally unprepared for the weather as we were headed for Oklahoma for a month to visit family. We had everything we brought with us layered one on top of the other.

This is one place that should go on your bucket list for sure.
