Central Florida to Charlotte Motor Speedway

Heading up this week to the 4-Wide Nationals and looking at optional routes. Typical route takes me up to Columbia and North to Charlotte. Problem is the track is on the East side and I would like to avoid going through Charlotte if possible.

I see some options to go up 95 past Manning and cut over on 527 and come up on the East side of Charlotte, but unsure of that route with an RV.

Anyone have any feedbacks or possibilites or should I just suck it up and ride the I and deal with the traffic...

Thanks,

Jack

The traffic on I 77 through Charlotte is not as bad as it is going farther north on I95.
Take I85 west to the track, don't remember the exit number. Been there many times for the Nascar race with a lot more people and even though there are delays, the Leo's do a good job of moving traffic.

Take I-485 to bypass Charlotte on the west side.

I'll be taking that route on Friday.

If I could get a motorhome trackside spot I'd be there.

Jack,
You may look at staying on 95 until you get to Florence/Darlington (Hwy 52) exit 164. Then take Hwy 52 west for about 7 or 8 miles and get on Hwy 151. That will eventually become US 601, then US 74..then I485 north (they call it "Outer" loop). that'll take you to US 29 at the speedway.

Its slightly longer mileage wise but that route is 4 lane all the way. When I'm not in the mood for 2 lane country roads, thats the route I take when we go to the Keys every year.

The 527 route is not too bad either.. that's one of my "country roads" choices. From 527 take 341 to US 1 in Bethune, then Hwy 151 in McBee SC to US 601, 74, 485. the only problem with this route is some tight turns in the center of a couple of small towns. I do ok with my 32 foot Bounder towing, but i see your Tuscanny is larger than that.

Either way, you will end up on US 601/US 74 through Monroe NC to 485.

I live in Monroe and travel all those routes, so let me know if I can provide any more info.

Have fun at the races!

Thanks guys for the responses. We arrived last night about 8. Took us about 8hrs, not a bad trip at all. I did end up cutting over to Columbia and coming up 77 to 29. Lost of construction on 29, so I will be taking 485 out for sure, or maybe the back way..

Should be a good "FAST" weekend!!
