Hi...What would be the best time of day, on a Monday, to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel N/B. Thanks. lenOrge

The times I've crossed the bridge is 10AM to 1 PM. I've never had a problem with traffic. Do not use either island tourist stop. They were not built for a coach and towed vehicle.

Shouldn't have a problem on a Monday... As stated, if you're towing avoid the sidetrip. Turn off the propane...

The traffic hassles will be in the Norfolk area.

Assuming you will be coming from the south, you would be apt to encounter any traffic on I-64 around the typical "rush hour" timeframes which basically are 7-8:30 in the morning and around 4-6 PM in the evening.
Most of this traffic is eastbound on I-64 headed away from the Norfolk Navy base, but there still is some traffic on the other side.
Once you get to the CBBT span you'll be home free and your ride up Route 13 would be enjoyable.

Hi lenOrge,
Let me add that weather may also be a consideration at any time on the CBBT. If the wind kicks up over 20 knots sustained, officals will restrict the type of vehicles allowed across. Semi's with trailers, towed trailers, vehicles with car top carriers and MH's. I used to live right next to the toll booth on the south side. That parking lot would be full for hours/days while drivers waited for the wind to die down. Some really good partys happened while folks were waiting. Good Luck

lenOrge,
Only problem as stated will be around Norfolk during rush hour. Rt13 & I64 goat rope. If making your approach to the Tidewater area on RT58 watch your speed around Emporia and once on I-64 their is a bit of construction around Greenbrier Pkwy. To check CBBT status or for that matter any bridge, tunnel or interstate if you have a cell with you dial 511 in Virginia and select the option you desire.
Please have a safe trip.
Very Respectfully,
Jeff

We travelled that way today, Monday - routes 168, I-64, US 13 to CBBT around 11:30 AM. Traffic was not bad at all. I've seen worse traffic than I-64 and Northampton Blvd. (US 13) was rather light.
Glad we were out of there before the big storms they had in the Suffolk area.
