Class A from Charlotte NC to Boise ID

I will be heading to Boise ID from Charlotte NC in a few weeks. The trip there will be the fast route i.e. Interstate. Slower, easier return trip. This will be my first trip out west. Are there any poor roads, steep grades or congested areas that I should watch out for?

We just got back to NJ from McCall via Boise, taking Rts 84 & 80. Between Iowa & Idaho you'll encounter no issues and both highways were great (no potholes out there for some reason). You'll hit ~8700' in Wyoming but the grades were not too steep with one or two exceptions, and they both had passing lanes.

We took the scenic route going out (via northern Nebraska, Badlands, Rushmore, Devils Tower, Little Bighorn, Glacier Park, and Lolo Pass down into McCall. I will tell you that Rts 12 & 95 in northern Idaho are a handful! ..but doable in an RV or towing a trailer.
