CO route 86

Can you advise as to the suitability of CO-86 from near Limon to Castle Rock for our coach with toad.

CO-86 for that stretch is mostly a 2-lane road. The eastern half generally has no shoulder and few turnouts, but it is quite straight with no steep grades and the speed limit is generally 55 mph. It should be easier than many of the 2-lane roads in your home state. Google Maps provides street views for the entire stretch if you wish to see and judge for yourself.

Thanks for the reply. I've looked at my truck atlas and Google Earth but it's always nice to hear from someone who has driven the road.

As ME said it is a decent road. It is not overly wide on the eastern portion but does get a bit wider once you get to Kiowa or so. It is not twisty curvey. As ME mentioned no major grades or hills but there are short rolling hills at times and some are steep but again they are short. Between Limon and Kiowa you will pass the occasional ranch house but that's it. I use it several times a year when I go to Kansas City as it saves some miles compared to taking I25 up to I70 then over to Limon. No reason not to use it except in winter snow

We went over it today and except for some rough patches of road surface it was a good drive.
