Coastal Roads from Mobile to Houston

Hi Everyone,

I'm planning on taking a trip with my kids on spring break. We've talked about a trip from Mobile to Houston on the coastal roads. We plan on going to the USS Alabama, Poche's, French Qtr.

Does anyone have experience with highway 90 to 14 to 73 to 87? Any good/bad roads, low (or low weight) bridges, must see sights, or great food? We are definitely not in a hurry.

On our recent trip we stayed on I10, and made all the side trips from there, Mobile, Gulf Shores, Biloxi, french quarter, Choushatta, Lake Charles.
sorry can't tell you anything about the smaller roads.

You can no longer get all the way from Sabine Pass to Galveston on 87. A stretch of it is closed between Sabine Pass and High Island. You can drop down to 87 on 124 from Winnie and go on to Galveston over the Bolivar Ferry if you wish.

Thanks! I was wondering about taking the motorhome on the ferry. It would be a treat for the kids.
